Azra began from something very personal. I grew up watching my mother create. She is an artist and a beautiful soul with so many dreams, and hands that carry all of that heart and love.
For years she made dresses for her daughters, pouring care, imagination, and quiet dedication into every stitch.
Afghanistan has a deep and vibrant history of textile artistry; embroidery, weaving, tailoring, and beadwork passed down through generations. Yet today, many artisans, especially women, have very limited opportunities to continue their work or earn a sustainable income from their skills.
Azra was created to help change that in a small but meaningful way.
Our team is proudly made up of Afghan women, and the work we create is deeply rooted in Afghan tradition. For many years, garments like these have often been sold by non- Afghans to non-Afghans, and over time they have become less connected to the communities and histories they come from. One of our hopes with Azra is to help change that; to celebrate these pieces within the Afghan community just as much as we share them with the world.
We work with artisans across Afghanistan, many of whom rely on their craft to support themselves and their families. Through Azra, their work reaches people around the world while allowing these traditions to continue living in the modern world.
Each Azra piece is handmade with extraordinary care and patience. Behind every coat are hours of detailed craftsmanship and generations of knowledge carried forward.
